GleePeek – what a croc!

Monday, November 30th, 2009

crocIntroducing my Chicago friend, Angie, who you may or may not remember me visiting back in September. She gave me some good insights into her favorites in life right now. The first? Well, I’ll let Angie speak for herself…

Like many people who attempt to be fashionable, I made a pact to myself to never, ever purchase Crocs.  That said, when I was shopping for a pair of simple brown work flats, I came across these. I was thinking how cute they were when I noticed the brand- they were Crocs!! Crocs with a slightly different brand name called “You by Crocs”.  So now I own a pair of Crocs, a cute brown, super comfy pair  that go well with my work pants as well as my skinny jeans! I am even thinking about ordering them in black… - Angie

I must admit, I feel like a changed woman now that I’ve seen these. Good find, Angie!

gold dress

This is what you want to wear to a party for a Wow Effect.shoe

The other day I gave a super cute, but more conservative party look. Today? Not so much. This is sexy to the max and a visual treat certain to turn a few heads. Plus, it is made out of organic hemp silk (new to me!) so you can feel a little more green for your holiday festivities.

And I recommend not going conservative with the shoe either. Black is nice, but colour is better. A luscious turquoise? Or these with the animal print.

So step out and  get some looks! You deserve it. It’s the holiday season!

rockefeller dress

So I came upon this website the other day that has tons and tons of wonderful things. I swear that everything I looked at just screamed HOLIDAY PARTY!

I love this silky black dress and these fancy flats (I prefer them in yellow). Classic and refined, yet quite stylish and on top of the lastest fashion. Sure to be a hit!

And one brilliant thing about both of these items is that they can easily be warn again in a variety of ways all year around. Perfection.

GleePeek – Treasure hunting

Monday, November 16th, 2009

Last week’s theme week was so fun, I thought I’d do another this week. My inspiration comes from something that ends up on pretty much everyone’s mind at some time or other at this point in the year…holiday parties.

Thanksgiving can be a fabulous party (I know that’s what I always try for), and no matter your religious or non-religious affiliation, there are many fetes to throw or attend. So we get a GleePeek look into an appropriate favorite of Jacynth’s to kick this Holiday Party theme week off…

Clothes: I live by the belief that somebody’s trash is another person’s treasure.  That’s why I do the majority of my shopping at Crossroads.  You can find anything from seven jeans (in good shape) to a Members Only jacket. Rocks! – Jacynth

Whether or not you have a Crossroads near you, any old second-hand store will do. At a time of year when budgeting is of utmost concern, a quick trip to a Goodwill or a consignment store can land you some amazing finds. I know I’ve scored some very sweet dresses, tops, and accessories that have made some party rounds. Can’t argue the price!

One last white thought…

Friday, November 13th, 2009

I just could not end this week without one more thing I’ve been eyeing in white, this cashmere shell. J.Crew has really taken it up a notch lately. It was so dull for such a long time, and even though there is certainly nothing too exciting about a white little sweater vest, it is cute and it is quality. Plus, it’ll spruce up a look instantly. Nicey.

White hot alert!

jeansSo I was thinking about rounding out the white theme week with something I absolutely MUST have. White jeans. In the Caribbean I can wear them even in the winter, but it may be more of a spring/summer thing for those of you in more seasonal climates.

ANYWAY, I was searching online, and found the most ridiculously low prices EVER on designer jeans! Maybe it is because it is not exactly white jean season? $200 jeans are at like $50! What is that about?? Time to stock up, I say.

I know that denim can be a tricky fit, but I say that at this price, buy 4 pairs and send back the ones that don’t work.

Seriously ladies, go to the white denim section of this website and sort your warmer weather style out in advance. Can you believe those prices?? I am freaking out a bit right now, I must admit.

dress

348-s3Lovely little dress, eh? I think so. Made from 100% organic cotton, and I love the sleeve detail at left. Check it out on the website because it does much more justice to the piece than I can here.

Such comfort and zen-like sophistication. If you are thinking to yourself that it is far too cold at this time of year for a dress like this, just throw on some leggings and you will be set!

Tickled Pink

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

For some reason that I simply cannot explain, I have really been feeling pink again lately. I think my last flash of pink items in my wardrobe were probably purchased about 8 years ago. A cyclical fashion trends rears its head once again!

I was also thinking cozy cute cardigan, so I thought this! A new J.Crew cardigan. And it is in pink champagne…so light and so lovely that even a pink-hater could wear it happily.

Right before I woke up this morning I was having a dream about happily owning a boutique full of cool gifty things, clothing, make-up and nail polish. Can’t get the pink nail polish out of my head! Here is my lovely pick from butter LONDON. Not only is Snog (that’s the colour’s name) just a totally righteous pink color, but the company does not use any nasty chemicals that screw with our bodies. All the more reason to think pink!

Little black dress

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

dressI was thinking that since it is fall I should post a good sweater find, but alas, I have yet to come across one.

In my looking about, I instead happened to come across this darling little black dress. And we all know that those are useful the whole year through.

I think it just has such a beautiful cut and I am digging the details like the little clippy thing on the strap. I don’t know how a woman could not feel like a seductress in this 100% silk little number. Plus, it seems like it could easily swing casual or elegant. Even toss it on over some pants if necessary. I covet.

Fall in Paris, or wherever

eiffel tower

Really, truly Paris is one of my favorite cities in the world. It is beautiful, magical, romantic, ancient, and hip. It just warms my heart to even think about it.

While I’ve been to France, it has always been in the summer. I think it must be at its most exceptional in the early fall though, with the gorgeous colours and the crisp air. I can just picture walking hand-in-hand with my love along the Seine, afternoons at museums, lots of wine and amazing food at the outdoor cafes as they count the days until the indoors are the only option.

Some day. Some day. In the meantime, I will happily wrap up in these cozy Eiffel Tower Pique Pajamas. I love good comfy lounge wear to jump into whenever I am at home. It is kind of like my house uniform. Standard fare for these crisp fall days.

So get yourself a baguette or quiche, hot tea (or vino). Put on Amelie, or some other French film, and cozy up in some new pajamas. Sounds quite luxurious and exotic to me.
