Wooly

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Sometimes I really find it hard to believe that while I am overheated wearing shorts and going to the beach, that it is still winter in most of the States. Don’t hate. And not only is it winter, but the WINTER OLYMPICS! Whoo hoooooo! Although I don’t have a TV, I have a neighbor who is so obsessed with the games that he is taking time off work to stay home and watch them. No joke. So for today, a warm necessity, SmartWool socks. Makes me feel like hunkering down with some buttery, nutritional yeast popcorn and watching me some Olympic sports.

A Teeny Boppin’ Good Time.

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

I am totally on board with this suggestion…

Delias.com – Yes, it’s a teeny bopper site but my goodness do they have a great, affordable shoe collection! Even your standard staples (like these sweet denim Van’s).  They ship fast, are true to size, and are easy on the pocket book. – Jacynth

Anywhere you want to be

You can take a black dress just about anywhere. This is a cutie in the midst of many darling dresses from the Shabby Apple website. Fun place to go and have a look around.

Easy, affordable, fabulous

I don’t know what it is about J.Crew lately, but they seem to really be doing everything right in my book. I remember a time when it was just the most hideous, bland, over-priced stuff. Now there are some super darling unique and staple pieces that I covet big time. There are about a dozen things that I would happily snatch up at the moment, but here is a super cute one that would make me happy over a nice pair of jeans, a paisley tunic. It would like nice with a belt too.

Better Boots

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Rainey had to let me know about her new boots, so alas, we get another GleePeek from my old pal to kick the week off.

BC Footwear Boots – I got these boots for my birthday. And I loooove them! Let me just say that I’ve been looking for a pair of versatile boots that would go with quite a few things, and not be too heavy, and would be a little different looking, and not have a heel, and have a defining look. The defining look I love, and I think fits me. It is sort of bohemian, and even hippie-ish. ( However, I can’t go without my daily shower, so I’m only hippie-ish in the strictly “poser” sense.  But I adore the look). Anyway, these boots are so great.  I’m one of those people that hate heels….I just can’t walk in them without looking like I’m…pretending.  So it’s just a sad look for me.  But these babies can be dressed up or relaxed, and though I’m always more partial to the latter, the former does, on occasion, come up. I guess you can get them in Black or Clay, but I have the Clay color. It’s a dirty grey…so besides grey,  it can pretty easily take on the colors of brown or black.. For those of us on a budget, (me), that’s a huge factor in any buy. But, on the other hand, they are made of the softest suede.  So I feel like a million bucks while wearing them.  All the while enjoying the comfort of something that feels relaxed, like a shoe, and not stiff, like the usual boot.  Anyway, just thought I’d tell you my new funsies! - Rainey

GleePeek – Form vs Function

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Jacynth and her comfort shoes have inspired me to do another theme week on the age old dilemma of form versus function. You know the issue…shall I chose comfort or shall I chose style? Well, I am personally of the firm believe that they can live harmoniously together in this nutsy old world of ours.

Kicking us off is another great find from Jacynth (see her previously here, here and here)…

Privo Hopsy Flat – If you’re a teacher like me or in a profession that requires you to stand and walk around a lot, it’s hard to find shoes that are comfortable but still look cute.  I found that shoes by Privo are definitely a good bet.  Including these (which I own two pairs of. They have massaging beads on the bottom for goodness sake!). – Jacynth

You’d look good in this

According to Tim anyway (I agree too). He gave me one pick for the ladies (his wife, more specifically) and it is Sam Trout tees. Here is a cutie…

Baby it’s cold outside

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

NF hatI am thinking cold weather now since I will be leaving my warm climate for the chilly Wyoming winter here in a few short days. 86 degrees F to -26 degrees F. Yes…that was the honest to God temperature in Buffalo, Wyoming yesterday (as reported by internet sources).

Exciting times! I love the snow and cozying up inside. It just doesn’t ever feel like the holidays in that same holiday-feel sort of way when you live in the tropics. But cozy indoors can mean some brutally cold outdoors. That is why I love this wishlist item submitted by a subscriber who lives in Colorado. She should most certainly know what she’s talking about.

North Face Hat – yes, it is possible to be cold and look cute at the same time. Love this little treasure! – Beth

Give her the boot

Another great gifting idea…a cute and practical winter boot.

I love my Tretorn rain/snow boots and so did my mom last time she came to visit.  They are cozy (faux-fur lining!), warm and bright.  I wear them everyday in the winter as I trek from my house to the train and back. My mom will be receiving the yellow pair! - Angie
