GleePeek – A Hemping Hand

Monday, February 8th, 2010

I sooooo know what Didi is talking about on this week’s GleePeek. I hadn’t been to The Body Shop in years, but I could not be more thrilled that they are now in airports because it has me back on the bandwagon with a few of their products. Especially now that it is harder for us to carry our goods around due to all the regulations. Didi’s suggestion…

Body Shop Hemp Hand Cream – I haven’t been to a Body Shop in ages, but  there’s a reason they have one at the Sea-Tac airport: because you feel all mashy and meh when you travel, and going in to smell the smells and try on a couple creamy products makes your flying day better.  About 3 years ago, I picked up a tube of this hand cream and have been hooked ever since (I’ve only gone through 2 tubes so it’s a nice lasting amount).  When you’re 40,000 ft in the air, nothing make you more comfy than slathering some hemp over your dry, air-cracked, hands.  Well, that or a H1N1 covered blanket…. – Didi

GleePeek – Hello Flawless

Monday, February 1st, 2010

Not surprisingly, I am not the only one who is a frequent user of Benefit make-up. Today’s GleePeek comes directly from Chicago where my friend Angie is touting the benefits of Benefit.

Hello Flawless – I had just run out of liquid foundation and found myself walking by the Benefit store.  It is lightweight and comes with a brush and sponge.  With the sponge, it works like a concealer, while the brush provides lighter coverage.  It is a lovely break from liquid foundation! – Angie

Feeling Balmy

Monday, January 25th, 2010

I’m back from an intense shopping trip to Atlanta. My first official trip to the south and the only time I was actually outdoors was to get out of the taxi and walk into the hotel, and to leave the hotel to get back into the taxi to head back to the airport. I got little done but shopping for the boutique, which was of course fun, but when you are indoors in forced air heat all day and night, it gets you all dried out.

I was happy to come back to Megan’s suggestion in this GleePeek. Get my hands on this for my next stateside trip!

Lansinoh Breast Cream:  This nipple cream for breastfeeding mothers is the ultimate lip balm.  Once you get over the weirdness factor and give it a try, you’ll be in love!  Made from 100% lanolin (all natural — from sheep!), it’s non-addictive to the lip tissue, which is coincidentally the same tissue as the nipple (and labia).  Since there’s no wax or alchohol, the lip is moisturized, without getting dried out in the process.  I slather this cream on before bed and it’s still on in the morning when I wake up.  My new secret trick is to apply a thin layer over my lipstick when I’m about to drink red wine.  This eliminates that gross red wine lip stain. – Megan

Sharpies!

Monday, January 18th, 2010

I like this week’s GleePeek from Lani. Sharpies are just so incredibly fun, and let me say, I know for a fact that Lani can get pretty creative with this fantastic invention.

Sharpies - I know this is a bit weird but they have so many fabulous colors. Here is my favorite: fine point, in rain… – Lani

Better Boots

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Rainey had to let me know about her new boots, so alas, we get another GleePeek from my old pal to kick the week off.

BC Footwear Boots – I got these boots for my birthday. And I loooove them! Let me just say that I’ve been looking for a pair of versatile boots that would go with quite a few things, and not be too heavy, and would be a little different looking, and not have a heel, and have a defining look. The defining look I love, and I think fits me. It is sort of bohemian, and even hippie-ish. ( However, I can’t go without my daily shower, so I’m only hippie-ish in the strictly “poser” sense.  But I adore the look). Anyway, these boots are so great.  I’m one of those people that hate heels….I just can’t walk in them without looking like I’m…pretending.  So it’s just a sad look for me.  But these babies can be dressed up or relaxed, and though I’m always more partial to the latter, the former does, on occasion, come up. I guess you can get them in Black or Clay, but I have the Clay color. It’s a dirty grey…so besides grey,  it can pretty easily take on the colors of brown or black.. For those of us on a budget, (me), that’s a huge factor in any buy. But, on the other hand, they are made of the softest suede.  So I feel like a million bucks while wearing them.  All the while enjoying the comfort of something that feels relaxed, like a shoe, and not stiff, like the usual boot.  Anyway, just thought I’d tell you my new funsies! - Rainey

GleePeek – Form vs Function

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Jacynth and her comfort shoes have inspired me to do another theme week on the age old dilemma of form versus function. You know the issue…shall I chose comfort or shall I chose style? Well, I am personally of the firm believe that they can live harmoniously together in this nutsy old world of ours.

Kicking us off is another great find from Jacynth (see her previously here, here and here)…

Privo Hopsy Flat – If you’re a teacher like me or in a profession that requires you to stand and walk around a lot, it’s hard to find shoes that are comfortable but still look cute.  I found that shoes by Privo are definitely a good bet.  Including these (which I own two pairs of. They have massaging beads on the bottom for goodness sake!). – Jacynth

GleePeek – Flip and Tumble

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Excuse the absence! My vacationing (and extra day of travel which meant a hotel night in San Juan, Puerto Rico) means that you get your weekly GleePeek fix on Wednesday. Is that what day it is? I am so confused at this point.

Without further ado, Didi is back! She brings us another great eco-friendly design which she recently talked about on her website greenissexy.org (and as I mentioned last week…Didi got a Vogue mention along with Megan!).

Flip and Tumble Bag- I really do absolutely adore this little bag. Just know that having a cute (the colors are awesome), Popple-like bag in your purse at all times is absolutely fabulous and saves you many bags of all kinds. You might think twice to grab a reusable bag when you’re going grocery shopping, but all the times that you didn’t know you’d need a bag (clothes shopping, bringing books home from work, etc etc) is when I truly appreciate it. – Didi

Gleepeek – Highlights

Monday, December 21st, 2009

YSLToday is another make-up essential from Megan. I keep buying her suggestions, and they have definitely become staples for me too (see her previously here, here and here). And just in case you need proof of how fabulous Megan is, she made this past issue of Vogue (along with Didi who is another GleePeek contributor)!

Here is her latest and greatest. Yet another addition to my wishlist.

Yves Saint Laurent Highlighter – perfect for post-lunch touch-ups at work or before I head out for the night from the office, without needing to re-touch the entire face. – Megan

GleePeek – Sugar lips

sugar

Have you tried any Fresh products yet? If not, get on it! Delightful. Here is a pick from Lani, who I know is a big fan.

Sugar Lip Treatment- from Fresh (a fabulous brand, I love almost everything they make) I haven’t tried the new sugar rose yet. – Lani

GleePeek – Bringing Joy to the world

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Introducing my friend Joy! We were fortunately thrown together as freshman year roommates and the rest, as they say, is history. She’s always at the top of her fashion game, and she just introduced me to these super cute Tory Burch sunglasses.

Tory Burch Oversized Square Sunglasses – I want these sunglasses. Especially in light of losing those other brown Chanels. So sad. But at least these are a bit more reasonable in price and super freakin cute! – Joy
