Movie Star Eyes

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

I like to switch around eyeshadow types depending upon my mood, the occasion, and what I am wearing. The other day before work I dug out some Bobbi Brown in a blueish colour that I hadn’t tried in awhile. Holy moley! I had totally forgotten. I felt so glamorous I had to go change my clothes.

Wowza. I am now once again inspired. This eyeshadow would be the most perfect way to go for a night out on the town (or at someone’s house party). It was elegant while making a subtle statement. And it has a bit of a metallic glow, which I feel takes it even more into an evening look.

My current favorites in the award winning Bobbi Brown Metallic Long Wear Cream Eyeshadow are the Antique Gold and Chrome Patina, though it is hard to narrow.

GleePeek – Make up for ever!

I am slowly purchasing Megan’s suggestions and could not be happier (just got this in the mail)! A new addition this week to Megan’s must-haves in make-up kit basics.

palette

Make Up For Ever Camouflage Palette Great blendable concealer palette no matter what shade of color your skin is currently.  I hate having to buy new products for summer just because I accidentally got tan or burned one weekend.  This lets you customize the concealer tint for each portion of the face (around my nose is very red, for example, while my forehead is always alabaster white!). – Megan

So ladies, it may be good to get some assistance when making this purchase because there are several palettes to work with, and of course you want the one that is right for you. I certainly am a bit confused about which one is best for me, but I really, really do want it! Actually, I really, really do NEED it.

Friday Guy Day, once again. And with that some more help from my friend Tim! (see last week’s guy post here – it was a MAJOR hit)

face lotionNeutrogena Men Triple Protect Face Lotion w/ SPF 20: A lady friend recently asked me “Do you use face lotion, and if yes, how can I get my husband to wear face lotion?”.  Well, 90% of them out there are crap.  I’m talking about face lotions not husbands.  If they are too greasy or thick it sweats right off your face.   You need something that goes on light and is absorbed by your skin. Seriously, I expect to look better at 50 than I do now and the one thing that will make that possible is a face lotion with SPF.  A lot of guys might use after shave, but that just removes moisture (or your common crappy ones do).  That said, this one soothes razor burn, smells manly and is very light.  A little goes a long way too. – Tim

eye bright

Benefit’s Eye Bright…An absolute MUST in every female’s make-up collection. I fortunately latched on to this many years ago, and all my ladies use it religiously. It really wakes the face up.

Not only is it a key ingredient to get your face glowing in your morning make-up routine, but there is nothing like it to liven up your fading face for the rest of the day or evening.

A little spread in under each eye brow as well as whiskered off the outer corners of your eyes can make an amazing difference. I even use it on the darker skin on the inner corners of my eyes. If you don’t own this, GET ON IT.

I had to go around the globe to South Africa to meet my friend Deanna (her etsy store featured here). We were fortunate enough to study abroad together with a fabulous group of students. And now, through the power of the world wide web, we have reconnected. Deanna is now located in Oakland, CA, and was kind enough to give me a few of her favorite products. Her GleePeek product for this week is…

truth serumTruth Serum by Ole Henriksen As we all get older we start to notice more lil wrinkles each day, so I use this product to help reduce fine lines plus it gives your skin a young healthy looking glow – Deanna

I have had Truth Serum product personally recommended to me not too long ago, and I am so excited that Deanna had it as her pick. Not only is it good for your skin, it is formulated without parabens, pthalates, and other nasty things. I’m sold!

Megan

Let me just tell you this right now, Megan’s word is gospel. I am quite happy that she gave me a list of her must-haves in make-up because there is really no one out there who is better prepared to tell you what is what.

Megan lives in LA and her red carpet, premier-going, actor lifestyle put her in the perfect position to really know what is the best of the best in make-up. She loves it, and I love that if I ever need to know anything that I can trust her to give the real 411.

She also is spectacular at doing other people’s make-up, as proved at Lani’s wedding in Alaska this past June when she truly created a masterpiece in subtle beauty (see this Gleepeek for more Lani). If I were you, I would waste no time making the products that she suggests part of your routine existence. Here is her first choice:

MAC Paint in “Bare Canvas” If I wear nothing else in a day, I’ll brush or dab on a little bare canvas on my lids. This barely-there cream shadow can act as a primer for bigger makeup looks, or can last all day as a lid neutralizer. It’s amazing how much healthier and more rested a gal looks when the discoloration on her lids is neutralized! Thin enough to feel like nothing on the lid, yet thick enough to disguise those little capillaries, this is my #1 makeup must-have for every caucasian face. – Megan

On another note, since my birthday is on Sunday, I’ve decided to take this week to post on the things on my personal wish list. This MAC Paint is the perfect start! It sounds exactly like the solution I’ve been looking for.

Lips addicted

juicy tube 1

Lancome has several great products that are part of my daily regimine, but the one that got it all started is Juicy Tubes lip gloss—my choice type being Spring Fling. Love the scent, love how it LASTS. Key word there…’LASTS’. I was addicted immediately, and that trip to the make-up counter really opened my eyes to other great Lancome options (to be discussed another day).

This is definitely my favorite lip gloss, and I’m really frustrated at the moment because mine has gone missing. Time to purchase another! The Coral Rush colour is looking rather tempting. May have to switch things up, or just get both. Click here to see the assortment.

P.S. As is key to note with most lipgloss, do not apply before eating food or you lips will look like a lint roller.
