GleePeek – Flip and Tumble

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Excuse the absence! My vacationing (and extra day of travel which meant a hotel night in San Juan, Puerto Rico) means that you get your weekly GleePeek fix on Wednesday. Is that what day it is? I am so confused at this point.

Without further ado, Didi is back! She brings us another great eco-friendly design which she recently talked about on her website greenissexy.org (and as I mentioned last week…Didi got a Vogue mention along with Megan!).

Flip and Tumble Bag- I really do absolutely adore this little bag. Just know that having a cute (the colors are awesome), Popple-like bag in your purse at all times is absolutely fabulous and saves you many bags of all kinds. You might think twice to grab a reusable bag when you’re going grocery shopping, but all the times that you didn’t know you’d need a bag (clothes shopping, bringing books home from work, etc etc) is when I truly appreciate it. – Didi

End result…

So, you are the host. You are not up for cleaning glassware or chancing the loss of your beloved dishes. BUT, using disposable grates at your conscience.

Solution! If you don’t already know this, there are tons of resources for biodegradable, compostable, earth happy serving ware. Now you can live with yourself.

Great resources for you:

-Ecowise

-Trellis Earth

-Pap Corn (I really like this…stylish! Downside is that you have to contact people in a foreign country)

-greeplanetparties (another fave and easier to order)

-Worldcentric

gold dress

This is what you want to wear to a party for a Wow Effect.shoe

The other day I gave a super cute, but more conservative party look. Today? Not so much. This is sexy to the max and a visual treat certain to turn a few heads. Plus, it is made out of organic hemp silk (new to me!) so you can feel a little more green for your holiday festivities.

And I recommend not going conservative with the shoe either. Black is nice, but colour is better. A luscious turquoise? Or these with the animal print.

So step out and  get some looks! You deserve it. It’s the holiday season!

dress

348-s3Lovely little dress, eh? I think so. Made from 100% organic cotton, and I love the sleeve detail at left. Check it out on the website because it does much more justice to the piece than I can here.

Such comfort and zen-like sophistication. If you are thinking to yourself that it is far too cold at this time of year for a dress like this, just throw on some leggings and you will be set!

Blanc

Theme week, people! And the theme? White. Why? Because white is classy, luxurious, stark and gorgeous.

Sooo much white goodness in the world, starting with this organic duvet cover I got for my birthday from West Elm.

bedspread

The appeal of a clean, crisp white bed probably started when I stayed in this beautiful boutique hotel in Stellenbosch, South Africa during a wine tasting weekend. Their white duvet covering the cozy down made me feel more special than a broke college student should.

Nothing screams comfort, class, and sophistication to me like white bedding. Plus, the decor versatility just boggles the mind. Cannot wait to get back to my new king size heavenly bed in Seattle and settle into zen-like happiness.

Dr. Bronner strikes again

Friday, November 6th, 2009

We’re talking guy talk again. This week is a continuation of Tim’s tingly fresh suggestion from last week (see here). And how happy am I that Tim is suggesting this particular product?? Refer to this gleegarden history.

soap

Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint Liquid Soap. I buy this at my local IGA in the bulk aisle where I refill my old containers… which means I’m being eco-conscious.  However, ecology isn’t on my mind, economy is.  I swear to god either the pricing hasn’t been updated in 5 years or their scale is off because I only spend like $5 for 3 re-usable bottles of it.  It seems like it is much cheaper than buying a new package.  That said, the official packaging is kind of trippy and all of the copy makes for good “kill time while I shower” reading.  This thing really tingles and they claim you can use it on everything (hair, face, dishes, teeth, etc.).  I only use it to wash my body. – Tim

vetro

This is one rad bag by Matt and Nat. It most definitely has the sporty chic thing going on. The canvas with that blue detailing is really doing it for me. Plus, it looks like those nifty compartments will definitely hold all the goods I insist on carrying around with me.

Other cool facts…it is vegan canvas with 100% recycled blue faux suede.

Tickled Pink

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

For some reason that I simply cannot explain, I have really been feeling pink again lately. I think my last flash of pink items in my wardrobe were probably purchased about 8 years ago. A cyclical fashion trends rears its head once again!

I was also thinking cozy cute cardigan, so I thought this! A new J.Crew cardigan. And it is in pink champagne…so light and so lovely that even a pink-hater could wear it happily.

pink champagne

Right before I woke up this morning I was having a dream about happily owning a boutique full of cool gifty things, clothing, make-up and nail polish. Can’t get the pink nail polish out of my head! Here is my lovely pick from butter LONDON. Not only is Snog (that’s the colour’s name) just a totally righteous pink color, but the company does not use any nasty chemicals that screw with our bodies. All the more reason to think pink!

Storage with a smile

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Will I ever get sick of old Asian rice and feed bags being reused to create exotic products for us Westerners? I think not.

Earth friendly and they look cool. Check out these storage hampers…cool way to organize your junk.
